Oh please. Taxes are not *your* money. If people could give up the idea that it’s THEIR money being pried out of their hands, rather than just another bill, there’d be a lot less whining. You want lights, you pay the electric company. You want a place to live, you pay the bank or landlord. You want food, you pay the grocery store. You want to live in a civilized society, you pay taxes. Get. Over. It.

Why does anyone want to vote for this guy?!

Of course you know oil pipelines never leak or rupture or anything like that right?
Seriously, show this to anyone that ever says the words Keystone XL as if it were some sort of magic bullet that would save the economy. It isn’t even a complicated environmental issue, it clearly cuts through something that if anything were to go wrong would absolutely FUCK this country.

Right here. Right here is why you should be concerned.

Let’s take only the Obama presidency. Had the filibuster not applied, the United States would have a market-based system to control carbon emissions, which would limit the damage from global warming, vitalize the clean technology sector, and challenge other large polluters like China and India to do the same. The new health care law would have a public option. Children of undocumented immigrants who served two years in the military or went to college could become US citizens. Women paid less than their male colleagues because of their gender would have broader legal recourse against their employers. Billionaires would not be able to manipulate the political system from behind a veil of anonymity.
Joshua Green, on America without Republican abuse of the senate filibuster. (via quickhits)

This is such a sad ‘what-if exercise….

I think of this every time I see conservatives criticizing liberals/feminism for not “lifting up and supporting conservative women.” NOOOOOPE not how that works. Just because we share a gender identity, I’m not required to support your abhorrent views. Lift up and support some poor women, women of color, trans* women, or really any marginalized person. Then we’ll talk about you. -Jess

How does it feel?

This broke my brain. I was reduced to sputtering epithets that may or may not have made sense.
